Wantagh Public Library is proud to partner with 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. This program is designed to promote early literacy in babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. The concept is simple. Read a book (any book) to your child. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (you can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten.
How Do
es It Work?
- Register at the children’s desk and receive a folder and reading log for the first 100 books. You will also receive a tote bag just for signing up!
- Read to your child and color in the box for each book read.
- Report with your reading log to the library when you’ve completed 100 books to receive your milestone sticker and next 100 reading log.
- Prizes will be awarded after you read 100, 300, 500, and 1,000 books.
- Upon completion of the program you will receive a certificate and a T-Shirt to celebrate your achievement. It’s that easy.
